Being a versatile educator, I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach an academically and socially diverse group of students for over five years combined, in the metropolitan cities of London and Kuala Lumpur. This has connected me to people of all backgrounds and cultures which I consider to be an invaluable asset. It brings me great fulfilment in building rapport with students in order to encourage their learning as it drives their confidence and willingness to progress. I can teach the key skills, notably grammar, at all levels including IELTS to students of all ages in a one-to-one setting or classes of up to 30 students. Furthermore, I have experience of teaching English in seminars to over 100 students as part of a college proficiency programme. I have a proven ability in maintaining a stimulating, well-behaved and focused learning environment. I always seek to incorporate literature, phonics activities and interactive technologies with a learner-centred approach in order for students to retain lesson objectives. Furthermore, I make it a necessity upon completion of coursework or exams, to provide students with feedback to facilitate comprehensive plans for self-study and improvement. I can confidently deal with challenging situations using initiative and interpersonal skills which I put down to having a warm, approachable and enthusiastic personality. This is essential when working in a team and having to motivate both my peers and students. I am adept at learning a school's curriculum, its means of delivery and completing given deadlines. Continuing Professional Development is one of my core philosophies in striving to the highest standards and so I am keenly interested in any prospect of training that I come across. As such I recently completed a Certificate in Teaching IELTS and will soon commence a Teaching English to Young Learners and Teenagers course.
