I am Swen, a bubbly 26 year old Chinese Malaysian who has worked with the media, messed with fabrics and models, helped the refugees and now hoping to be able to teach globally. I am TESOL certified with a bachelor's degree and a diploma, wanting to meet students from many different cultures and backgrounds. I am multilingual and have a neutral English accent, currently tutoring international kids and adults (mostly Korean and Chinese) in Malaysia. It is my dream to be able to teach and help more people around the world. I am known better as the 'speaking teacher' to my Korean students. My lessons are very practical. Due to my personality, I treat all my students as my friends. I believe that speaking to my students in a casual and friendly manner increases their confidence in speaking and encourages them to speak even more, alongside the comfort that they feel having me as a 'friend'. Of course, my lessons are not limited to just speaking. I provide written pieces as well to strengthen my students' foundation in understanding the usage of the language better. I was a teacher in a refugee school in KL for about nine months and had one of the best eye-opening experiences in my life. That point of my life helped me decide to be certified as an ESL teacher to expand my experiences even more. I have been teaching ever since. No regrets.
