About Me: I am a PhD Candidate that have submitted my thesis, currently waiting for Viva. So far, my biggest achievement is my conversion from Masters to PhD. I've successfully converted from Master of Science (Tourism) to PhD (Hospitality and Tourism). Although my major is in Tourism and Hospitality, my thesis topic is about human behaviour, trust, and gender. Thus, this is closely related to Sociology and Anthropology. Studying human behaviour is fascinating to me, as it is subjective and there are multiple realities, to each its own contexts. During this time I was also a Research Assistant and a Secretariat to ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ATRA). With ATRA, I learnt a lot more of research skills. About My Lesson: For each module, I am given a set of Learning Outcomes (LOs) that I have to follow. From there I can design content to meet the LOs requirement. My class size is usually 10-15 students. For the first class, I'd normally spend some time to engage with students, asking them questions verbally and in written form. From this, I can roughly gauge which level the student is at. With this information, I will ensure my delivery of class is balanced between students' speed of learning. Some require a bit more time to follow the class. Since my classes are usually small compared to others, I have more one-on-one time with them. After my lecture, I would give some time for students to understand and ask if they have any questions. This is the time I would approach those students that require more encouragement and ensure that they are following. Education Experience: I started tutoring when I was a Masters student by helping one of the Professors whenever he is away. I would handle his classes for him. Then shortly after, I started to have my own modules, where I design, develop, create and implement the content courses. I have taught students from both Diploma and Degree level. As a PhD Candidate, I'd occasionally guide and give advice to other PhD students (junior) about their research.
