About Me: I'm Shobini Padmanapan. I graduated from Nilai University in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Business Management. Directly after graduation, I have joined as a Management Trainee in Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur and right after my training, I was promoted as a restaurant supervisor. While in Mandarin Oriental I have earned my employee of the month award and also I have done my on-job training certification. I resigned from Mandarin Oriental in Feb 2020 and since then I have been doing part-time transcription and online tutoring for school students from year 1 to 6. I am obsessed with all things arts-related and books. I enjoy reading fictional and non-fictional books and I spend my free time drawing, reading books, and playing badminton. I bring people, ideas, and inspiration together to make the world a better place. About My Lesson: If the students are happy at the end of the day, so am I. If not happy, I must have missed something. I need to work harder to make them happy. Once I found my students not able to understand a particular concept I am ready to adapt new methods of teaching to explain to them. I will act as a guide to allow the student to choose his method of learning and also share my experiences which give them vital life lessons. While teaching, I am more a mentor and organizer of learning experiences and situations, such that my students actively understand, reinvent and reconstruct everything they learn, than a simple transmitter of ready-made and established truths imposed on them from outside. Education Experience: I have been teaching nursery students and also for years 1 to 6 through online. As a teacher, I have to modify my lesson so students can fully understand the concept being taught. I also feel that when time is an issue I as the teacher have to modify and sometimes simplify the activities so all the things that need to be taught. My experiences have taught me how to be flexible in differing environments and prepared me to deal with students of diverse backgrounds. When delivering my lesson I learned that it is crucial to know all the concepts that we are teaching to not miss anything when teaching a lesson. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in an attempt to answer questions evolving from the discussion. That experience actually helped me to understand the teaching and learning are inseparable.
