About Me: A passionate and experienced English teacher who has been teaching for nine years in multiple educational institutions. I've taught students from various backgrounds; nationalities, age, level of proficiency to name a few. I'm known as the teacher who builds strong rapport with students and I'm also creative in making my lessons enjoyable and memorable. Apart from carrying out the typical responsibilities of a teacher, I'm also heavily involved in administrative tasks and also organizing events which involve students' curricular activities or celebrating students' achievements. I take ownership of any tasks that I'm assigned to. About My Lesson: I plan my lessons based on the syllabus given. Do my research on the topics. When I say I do my research, not solely based on the academic side, but also the fun side of it. How do I make this lesson fun? Thus, I always incorporate fun activities in conveying my lessons. Let's say the topic is on Technology: The Pros and Cons. I always start by asking their thoughts on the lesson, elicit their opinions rather than spoon-fed them with what I know. From this, they practice critical thinking and at the same time, they can also ask their friends' opinions. This leads to class discussion and most times turns into a debate. Another way of doing this, I would ask them to imagine and invent a device that would benefit the society in the future. This activity, not only it's fun it is also stimulate their creative and innovative perspective. Education Experience: Being in the industry for almost ten years, to be frank, not only I've taught students lessons, but I, myself have learnt a lot through the process. My younger, younger self would have laughed if someone made a tiny bit of grammar mistake as I had this mindset, everybody should know that. English is a global language. Everybody uses the language. However, having taught students who didn't even know the alphabet let alone the grammar structure has opened my eyes. Widely. Being a teacher, instead of laughing at the mistakes, we should correct and support the students to be better at using the language. English is an international language, but not everyone has to use it on a daily basis. Not people from the third war country, not the housewife whose full time job as a housewife, not students who come from a poor family but want to be doctors or lawyers. I take pride that even it was difficult at first, but seeing my students able to converse in the language confidently and getting good IELTS results, are pure satisfaction to me. I've done my part. I've done my part well.
