My name is Amirah. I am 24 years old. I was born in Johor, yet I am currently staying at Kuala Lumpur since I have just finished my one-year contract of working in an oil & gas company known as Velesto Energy Berhad. I have completed 'Foundation in Law' programme from University of Technology Mara in year 2015 and graduated with an undergrad first-class degree in International Relations from University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) in year 2018. I currently have one year of working experience as a legal assistant in Velesto Energy Berhad. I am very meticulous in my work, always eager to learn new things and able to accept and learn from criticism. While working in Velesto, I have assisted legal managers in filling out the legal forms, preparing slides, comparison template and registration of contract details into a contract reminder system. This has enabled me to become quite meticulous in delivering any tasks assigned to me, especially in dealing with data entry, contract checking, paper works and documentations. I am also able to multitask effectively since I had been working not limited only to legal works but also related to procurement and finance works. I liaised with procurement and assisted them for the registration of vendors and prepares payment requisition form to ensure payment from finance department to respective vendors. Moreover, I have had internship experiences in Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) which I have been exposed to communication with diplomats and management of short courses, events and workshop throughout the internship program. Furthermore, I also did my internship at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Kuala Lumpur, served as personal assistant to the diplomat and conducted research on issues pertaining to the foreign affairs of Malaysia and Venezuela. My favourite hobbies are watching criminal documentary and conducting research on current global affairs and international humanitarian issues. This is because it helps me to improve my critical thinking skills which is quite important as it helps me to analyse information, think outside the box, solve problems with innovative solutions and strengthen the ability to plan systematically. Student engagement is paramount for a high-quality learning experience, especially when it comes to online tutor. Thus, in my opinion, I would love to communicate with my students via multiple platforms. This being said, apart from teaching my students via online tutor platform, I will also engage with them through emails and discussion forums as a standard communication tools which includes embedded audio and video, chat rooms or instant messaging, broadcast text messaging, and home page announcements. These methods tend to be well received by students. In addition, I would like to clear up the common misconception about online learning in which students will only be sitting in front of their computers. I wanted to be more creative in my teaching skills by get the students involved in active learning such as helping them to bring their learning out into the community where they live. This may include but is not limited to case studies, group projects, or gathering and analyzing local data. I personally do not have any prior experience when it comes to teaching. However, I did taught many of my ex-high school friends as well as my ex-university friends on several subjects along with providing good case studies for their reference in better understanding a particular topic. My friends who have studied with me eventually scored great results as compared to their previous results. I am always very passionate in teaching others in order to help them achieve greater knowledge and understanding in the subjects which they have enrolled in. Many of my colleagues and friends were advising me to become a lecturer yet I have never pursue this career so far. I am currently unemployed since I have just finished my working contract which has ended in 30th June 2020. Thus, I am actively looking for a job and came across this very interesting teaching platform.
