My name is Ali Imran Azman, a research officer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). I obtained both BTech and MSc Petroleum Geoscience from UTP, in 2016 and 2020 respectively. I am familiar with remote sensing, GIS, sedimentology and geohazard. My current research is in the application of remote sensing and GIS for lineament study of the Semanggol Formation and its adjacent areas. Concurrently, I involve in a project of heavy mineral distributions in fluvial and coastal sediments in Terengganu.
Before I start teaching, I ask students to recap what they already learned during the previous class. I always have two-way communication with the students to encourage them to speak and share some ideas to the others. Sometimes, I explain the theory with the application to the industry to make them a bigger picture of why they need to learn the subject, not just to pass the examination. I also open Q&A session for them to ask me any questions related with the teaching.
During my postgraduate study, I assisted lecturers for teaching lab sessions for undergraduate students e.g. Geospatial Information System, Geological Mapping Techniques, Mineralogy & Petrography and Non-Seismic Methods. Every week, I taught at least one laboratory or experiment in a class with 30-40 students. Sometimes, I also conducted fieldwork to expose students about geology in the field.
