I'm Adrian and I’m 27 years old this year. I studied in local school and graduated with SPM in 2009 graduated as an engineer and major in Chemical Engineering from University Tunku Abdul Rahman in 2015. I went engineering working line for about a year as a project engineer for an industrial gas company located in Nilai. It was a fresh experience for a fresh graduate like me, getting to many experience colleagues and learning new engineering skills along the way. However, I found myself getting into a comfort zone and not much career exploration in this company. Not to mention, a tedious driving to my working place as I’m located in Cheras. Then I got a notice from a tuition center regarding a vacancy as an IGCSE tutor for Physics, nearby my area. Thinking that not much to lose and venturing into an education line to find myself a place in a new industry was not a bad idea at all. At the beginning, I taught two students from nearby homeschool. Then eventually I find myself filled with satisfaction where I can share my knowledge with others. There’s nothing more satisfying to see my student getting excel in his or her academic performance and most important of all, enjoying the process of learning. At the same time, I’m learning as I’m teaching which I found to be interesting. I have variety of teaching methods, depending on the students and their backgrounds. First of all, I will try to understand the students’ backgrounds and personalities. Then, I will ask myself how I can help the student, not just academically, but to help in his/her study lives as well. Different student requires different teaching method. For example, some students might not be interested to know more about the subject while some are wish to ask more than what the syllabus can provide. As a rule of a thumb for teaching, I bring my laptop with me for tutoring all the time, I have variety of teaching materials in it which I do it and put them in a PowerPoint slides. Most of my students are able to understand and visualize better on the subject, without having the traditional way to flip the textbooks for answers. For example, some of my students were able to finish a subject within 4 months despite it is a 1.5 to 2 years studying course. I have been teaching for about 4 years up to now. At first, I joined up as a tuition tutor mainly teaching for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for IGCSE. And then, I was a homeschooling tutor to prepare my students for their upcoming IGCSE examination. As time goes on, I’m preparing more and more teaching materials for my students, mainly through slides and PowerPoint.
